The Sea Life Center; a sea life day cruise out of Seward to see the puffins, sea otters, whales if you are lucky; rent a car (there's Hertz) way ahead of time since there are not many in Seward; drive out to walk to the face of Exit Glacier outside Seward; or maybe some of your party would be interested in a half-day halibut/salmon combo fishing trip.

The train trip up to Anchorage is beautiful & I think drop-off rates for rental cars from Seward to Anchorage could be outrageous.

A great website for Alaska travel is

My vote is definitely for Seward as it is my favorite place in AK that I have been too so far (I use to live there but still visit every couple of years). It is absolutely beautiful and the wildlife that you see on the few-hour cruises is spectacular.

I agree with Bongo. Also if you plan on staying a night, around there, a friend and I stayed at the Kenai Princess Lodge. It was nice. It is along the Kenai River and you can do some river rafting too, or just hike! The only bad thing about the lodge is that it didn't have a coffee pot in the room! I was going through withdrawals till I got to the restaurant! LOL
