Anyone have recommendations of where to go to get my 4 wheel drive repaired? Tried to use it today and only heard grinding. Hate to go to the dealer but don't know of any other place. Suggestions?

Thanks -

Do not go to the 4x4 shop off Old Seward, around 73th.

You can try the Shell station on Boniface and Debarr. I know the owners and they all run big mudders and rock crawlers so I'm fairly confident they can work on 4x4s.

Either Young's Gear, or Alaska Spring and Performance.

I've used both before, and both do great work.

Young's Gear LLC - Anchorage

Alaska Spring and Performance auto repair, brakes, tires, oil changes, transmissions - Anchorage, AK 99503

If that's the one I'm thinking about, it's mainly just one of those aftermarket parts stores for those guys that want their trucks lifted 10 feet off the road, or are looking for 10 billion candlepower fog lights.

Try Fats on International, they've been around for a while and do a good job.

thanks for all the replys. Thought it might be the transfer case and was expecting the big bill like Highlife said. Took the car to a place called Rallys on Arctic. They said it was binding up because of mismatched tires.... I dunno. It's true I'm driving with 2 sets of tires (a long story), but they are the same size. We decided to pull off the oversized tires and return to the factory stock with studs. See if that doesn't make the jeep handle a little less like a shoebox on wheels. Hope to get it back tomorrow. If it's not right, will prob try one of the other places you guys suggested.

Oh, did not know you had a jeep. In that case I definitely recommend the Boniface Shell Station/Service Station. The owners run a Jeep 4x4 club. They know Jeeps
