Hi everyone,

I'm seriously considering leaving for Anchorage in March and I'm just curious about the hospitality/restaurant jobs available during this time. I'm looking at staying in Alaska for the summer and well, need a job.

Has anyone had any experiences in moving to Anchorage on sort of a whim and how easy or hard it was to find jobs?

(P.S. I have a friend already living there, and the rent it pretty cheap)

thanks in advance for your responses!

You should be all right. March is a little early for the hospitality industry to start hiring but you should be able to find something. Just bring enough cash to get by on for awhile in case you don't find something right away. I was sitting next to a woman on the plane awhile back who is one of the managers at the Anchorage Hilton and she told me that she was always looking for help. Oh...and here's and idea for you. Think about applying to work on the train. They do passenger tours and have dining and beverage cars...they go up to Fairbanks and back. I don't have the link handy but if you google "Royal Caribbean", look under the jobs tab, then under seasonal jobs, and they've got job descriptions etc. and you can apply online and maybe even have a job before you get there. Princess hires for their train tours too. If you're an experienced server you should be able to make pretty good money.
