I was thinking the same thing... Still a tragedy either way you look at it.

The man Anchorage police linked to 18-year-old Samantha Koenig's disappearance was arrested in Texas with a stolen Alaska debit card, rolls of cash and a disguise worn during illegal cash withdrawals in three states in the Lower 48, according to a charging document filed in federal court.

This is an awful story....maybe getting worse. The man charged had her credit card. Not a good sign.

1. Feds take people out of state court/prison all the time - they just come and take the case IF they want it. In this case, they were involved from the beginning. They call this a joint operation/task force.

2. Let's assume she was harmed. Unless they have probable cause that he harmed her in Texas, Texas is nothing more than the location/state he was caught in. We don't even know if she ever MADE it to Texas... Again, hopefully she wasn't harmed at all.

3. In joint operations, the local PD is usually the ones that cuff 'em and stuff 'em and put them in their car. The transport agency has no bearing on where the person will be booked or ultimately charged. (see #1)

4. When was the last time you saw an FBI car with a cage in it? Wouldn't you think it is safer to transport someone like that in a secure vehicle rather than in an open backseat? Chances for escape and injury to the officer's are less.

Bottom line - lots of unanswered questions here and to quote Obama. IMHO, "Everything is on the table" with this case, including charges in Texas.
Good post and makes so much sense......I agree, for what it's worth....LOL.

If the guy that was originally targeted as a suspect because of a possible restraining order that apparantly didn't materialize, where is he at fault ? I get the impression that some think he might be....am I wrong ? Lots of high emotion here.

A very sad thing happening here.

All of us on the outside just have to wait and see. EVENTUALLY all of the details will emerge and the tidbits will all get tied together.

I hope and pray that she is found safe. EVERYTHING and anything else can be worked out.

A shed on the property Keyes lived in was hauled off late one evening by the FBI. They aren't releasing any details.
