I'm hoping that by posting this here, I can generate more support from native Alaskans, particularly those that might live in the general area of the desolate wilderness which he explored.

You know, I'm sure you mean well, but that bus is nothing special for the locals, it was used for a hunting camp for years. The last time I stayed in it was a year or two before Chris died there.

There is private land all around the bus, private cabins and one National Park Cabin you use to be able to rent, have seen it in years, may have been shut down for all I know.

Basically as far as the majority of folks that live in the area don't really jump on this train your wishing to promote. Other nameless people have died trying to go back to see the bus and were as clueless as McCandless was.

If the bus was dragged out to the highway, it would be the best thing that could happen to it and Chris's legacy. I don't think very highly of his deeds and story, but I think he was smart enough not to want people to die doing what he did!

Anyway, go read his book, enjoy the movie and leave it at that. Go make your own adventure instead of copying someone's else's that failed miserably!
