So what is there to do in Eagle River Alaska... Why is it that they dont reopen the theater ?
I realize there are those who are willing to drive out to Anchorage or the Valley for movies but I am sure that there are those of us who would like to keep the gas guzzleing on our vehicles to a min..... Is there any chance of them reopening this movie theater here in Eagle River or are they just going to allow this building to sit empty and vacant forever...???
Other than the bowling alley is there anything else to do here for kids, teens and grown adults who would like LOCAL activity available to us.... ?

Thank you for any input that way you can offer.

Well, Eagle River Nature Center is a wonderful place for children with great hiking trails, hands-on science & ranger info.

When there is enough snow, Arctic Valley now has a tube park in addition to downhill skiing:

When we lived in Eagle River we enjoyed the cross-country ski trail along the river.

Thank you for the information. Do you think they will ever reopen the theater here ... even as just a simple matinee for kids.... with cartoons or something through out the day for parents that have kids that need a break from the crazy redundant home life....???
The ideas you have are good as well.... I am just wondering if there are any other options of indoor stuff that we dont have to travel to Anchorage or the Valley for....

Also, do you happen to know if there are any good safe teen/yound adult ( ages 15-20 ) hang outs here... with out alchol use ?

Maybe do some research here: Eagle River Parks and Recreation

And I think they shut the theater down because it was losing money... So I doubt it'll open back up.

It's not likely to open again. In order to stay in business, it needed over a millions dollars in equipment upgrades alone. With the newer Regal Cinema at Tikahtnu Commons just 11 miles away and the newly opened Valley Cinema in Wasilla, the theater couldn't compete anymore. Here is a article about the closing:

For indoors there's always the public library!

Or how about McDonald center with ice skating & indoor walking/jogging track:

The theater closed because the Tikatnu theater complex (right on Muldoon) is pulling ALL the money now & is the best theater in alaska. it's very close so driving shouldn't be a concern really.

there's an out door ice skating rink by Garcia's that looks fun

You keep asking about the theater in every response... Do you own it? Or know the owner?

Businesses close because they aren't making money or the owners die and no one wants to take it over - probably because it was losing money...

$1,000,000 in equipment upgrades would take a long time to make back...
