As far as lodging goes, I'd just stay in the camper. Even if it's winterized, you can just drink bottled water and still run the heat, stove, refrigerator, etc. You will just need to find a place to use the bathroom --- and there's plenty of wide open space on the Alaska Highway. Have a safe trip and enjoy the adventure.

This thread is so helpful. We are moving there in the next few months. One of the realtors had a great suggestion for those moving with a uhaul. She suggested buying a truck and trailer and selling them when you get there. You can make some money on it since the cost of getting cars and trailers up there is more expensive.
We are looking into renting a motorhome to get up there since some of our stuff is being moved for us. Has anyone taken a motorhome? Otherwise it will be six of us and a dog in a minivan.

When pulling your trailer...ensure you have trailer tires and not radial tires. Actual trailer tires are more sturdy sidewalls and take cornering etc. Radial tires on a trailer especially with dual axles...is just asking for flat tires. And getting them when you least need them.
