Wondering how much it will cost to heat a 2/3 bedroom home? Do most places use gas heat?

Where are you moving? I'm in southcentral. 2 bedroom 2 story, one gas monitor, gas hot water and stove, about 70 bucks a month for gas in winter, 50 for electric, 50 for satelite tv and 70 for phone (includes DSL), 20 for beer.

I have a 2,240 sq. ft., 4 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 story home and pay in the neighborhood of $110 for gas in the winter ($70 in the summer), $90 to $100 for electric, $80 for phone (including DSL). I have my own well and septic, and take my own trash to the dump 4 or 5 times per year at a cost of $5 to $10 per visit.

The average heating bill here in Oklahoma doubles most of yours listed.

Yeah, but Oklahoma houses aren't insulated the same way Alaskan houses are.

A lot of my friends & I in Anchorage had $230 Dec15-Jan 15 bill for gas due to the cold snap. We keep our thermostat at only 60 degrees. 2000 sq st. homes approximately.

I keep mine at 68-71, turn the heater off at night and keep warm under the blankets.
The main thing is how well and how long the house can hold the heat. Which my house is no good at.
