I moved from Southern California to Northern Idaho 25 years ago. It's not Anchorage but I understand the weather is pretty similar. The only times I've ever been back to L.A. were to attend funerals. A few years after I moved there, a woman posted a letter to the editor with a lot of complaints about the weather, the people, nothing to do, etc. A friend of mine started a mail-in fundraiser and collected over $1500 to help pay her moving expenses. She left in a huff and we donated the money.
