I'm thinking of getting my daughter a remote car starter for Christmas but I have no experience with them. Any advice on the best type of starter and dealer (in Anchorage) for instillation would be appreciated. Thanks.

I won't say this is the best and it will probably not be the cheapest. But - I would check out Best Buy. In Anchorage (Dimond) does installations, I didn't look up the Muldoon location but if that is closer they might.

The *only* reason I like them is because if you have an issue and you are back in the lower 48, chances are, there is a Best Buy around you somewhere. I have not had the need for a remote start or aftermarket alarm in a long, long time and I never have used the one in Anchorage. I did use them in Miami and they were fine, never had an issue with their installation.

Car Toyz on fifth across from Merrell field is the cheapest I found for a one-way. They do a good job at installs too. At least that's my experience.

I had one installed about 4 years ago at Northstart on East 76th. Customer service was good and I have had no problems with it.
