Good morning, so I grew up in Anchorage and left in 2003. Moved there when I was 6 months old. I'll be back in town for the first time since I left this June and was looking for some fun things to do! I have a bunch planned out, but wanted to ask for some opinions on here, since I'm sure Anchorage and the area has changed quite a bit since 2003. Any suggestions would be great! I'll be bringing my girlfriend along as well, as she has never been to our great state of Alaska! Thanks and I look forward to hearing back!

Dan

We are doing the same thing. We have enjoyed all the trails in town. Rent a bike and enjoy. Drove up the mountain side to see the crazy houses they have built up there. There is a small book on walking trails that is worth buying. Used book store Tidal Waves Books on 1300 Northern Lights has a huge selection of books on Alaska.

Dont really recommend museum. It is being renovated and the big section on Alaska is closed.

One of the cool things about Alaska is that it takes a little longer to assimilate most worldly changes that most other places usually jump on as a matter of course.

Make sure you bring your concealed carry firearm. It's getting pretty ugly in Anchorage. Your Maine CCW permit will be honored in Alaska.

It was that bad when I left...in fact that's why I left.

I will be in town from the 7th-14th of June. Yes, I will have a rental car. I will be staying downtown as well. Planning on visiting some family, and of course, taking my girlfriend to a few places I went to as a kid.

Are you planning any overnights away from Anchorage, or are you looking to stay in town the whole trip? In other words, are you wanting to show her Anchorage, or do you want to show her Alaska?

Oh please. Way to blame crime victims, trying to claim bad stuff happens because they don't believe in your god.
