Hello...we are planning to drive from AL to Anchorage at the end of May..we've never been to Canada or to Alaska...are we nuts? Any suggestions?

No, your not nuts. Thousands of people do it every year. I saw some from as far away as Florida driving up the Alcan. They were driving what looked like a 60' motorhome with a boat behind it. Just make sure you have plenty of money for gas...

And a passport! And registration for your vehicle, and proof of insurance, and pet papers (if your bringing a dog etc).
If your driving home again (not staying in Ak) figure on at least 2 grand Canadian just for travel expenses through Canada both ways.

Read this, I've done the Alcan 13 times now. Most of the trips started in Alaska. I go the other way, start up here and drive down to the states, reverse tourist.

What type of vehicle are you driving? I am looking for someone to tow a travel trailer and would be willing to pay all fuel costs one way from Kansas to Ancorage. It would take at least a 1/2 ton truck to pull the camper.
