Cooking crab for 15 minutes at 500!? no, no! Put a steamer rack or some crumpled foil in the bottom of a big pot (to keep the crab from touching the bottom of the pot), add an inch of water, put the crab legs in, cover the pot and steam those suckers for 10-15 minutes just until they're heated through. (Remember, the crab is already cooked when you get it--this keeps it from drying out in the oven.) While it's cooking, cover your table with newspaper, heat up the butter and prepare to make a mess. I''m probably starting a huge Crab Cooking Controversy with these words, but we lived in Dutch Harbor/Unalaska for seven years and set our own king crab pots, so I'm qualified...
