A fine example of a know-nothing lower-48 yellow journalist writing about other lower-48ers who move to Alaska and want to make it exactly like the lower-48 they moved away from.

People need to get a dose of reality. This is Alaska, where bears out number people. If they do not like that reality, or if they cannot cope with the way things are, then they need to leave Alaska and head back to the lower-48 where they came from.

The last thing we should do is cater to these lower-48 morons who do not know or understand the environment they moved into.

If they don't like the bears around, move, the bears were here first.

I have a question!?! Why is it that a lot of the trash dumpsters downtown don't have the double locking mechanism that they do on base? Just curious. I'd have thought it would cut down on the "dumpster diving bears" immensely!
I've only been here since Jan, but agree, bears were here first. We're learning to deal with them AND moose! Only thing TO do. Makes AK what it is...WILD!

Carry the best gun you can and don't get all worried about it. Before I had to cancel moving up this year most of my family was making bets on me getting killed by bears. People tend to be way too afraid of bears...yes attacks happen but considering how many bears and people there are, attacks aren't common. Just need some common sense around bears, something sorely lacking in most people these days. Humans are a bigger danger everywhere than wildlife in my opinion...
