I am currently looking to find a place to live in Anchorage. I have read other threads and was wondering if anyone else has any other suggestions.

I am planning on substitute teaching in the area and was looking for a location that was not only cheap but safe and somewhere mid-city where I could get to different schools easily.

Any advice, suggestions or dialog would be appreciated!

Kathleen

good idea to start with apartment rentals so one can move around Anchorage quickly when relocated to another Anchorage school district in one two three year periods. six month apartment rentals. at same time can maintain best quality furniture, electronics in one two bed room safe sound peace of mind apartment. why worry about a whole house when one must re located in areas of Anchorage. yes indeed.

Thanks for your insight Bob, it helps. But do you have any apartments or areas in mind? I'm new to Anchorage, never been actually, and I won't go until I move, so I really have no idea. Also on a side note; I have been accepted a place at Alpine Meadows apartments, but I'm getting real mixed reviews online. Does anyone have an opinion of this complex?

The places are there but they really require on-sight viewing. Depending on when your coming up you might try staying over at the University in the dorms for a week. It's only $50 a night when school is out for the summer. That's a bargin for Anchorage. My wife stayed over there and it only took her about 5 days to find a nice place to rent.

Good luck. I'm just glad we didn't try to rent something sight unseen.

There are several publications out that have apt listings. You can get a general idea. However you will really want to see them in person first as often the pictures are from when the complex was new and shiny. You might check with the school district and see if they have a package of info they send out to teachers transfering to Anchorage. They might have some good leads.

Do your own gathering of information on line. it will help you determan feelings of certain apartment buildings in Anchorage. remember you can make several mistakes in job and management of life. perfect carreers and places to live are hard to find.
