How is construction life in Anchorage in the winter time? I do fire sprinkler systems and have been thinking of making a move but I don't want to have a miserable time if the jobsites our unbearable. Does anyone know of a big construction project going on right now that is on a ski area?

My Hubby works construction and he has not heard of any big construction projects going on in Girdwood. Not sure what other Ski Areas you might be referring too.

But I can tell ya that construction does go on here year-round. Especially on the large projects. We get our buildings enclosed so you are not working in the "cold" We put visquine(Spelling?) over the whole building sometimes to heat it up. There is a building right now going up that is wrapped in plastic so they can finish the exterior walls before it snows.

There are lots of companies up here that do Fire Sprinklers, Good Luck!

newsminer.com • Alaska loses jobs for fifth straight month

Be sure you have a job "before" moving; things are shaky right now. You don't want to end up homeless in Alaska, especially in the winter. If you were to make the move be sure you have enough money to tide you over and that you have the funds to leave if things go sour.

You may want to contact the companies that do this type of work. Here are several if you can open the attachment.
