Well, about two months after posting my whiny lament (found here: //www.city-data.com/forum/alask...ska-dream.html), I was offered a job in Anchorage yesterday afternoon. I start the beginning of May. I don't post here often, but I had to tell someone since I've decided to wait a few weeks to tell my current coworkers.

I guess the first question that I have is....

Has anyone ever driven to Alaska?!?

Just kidding.

I bought my copy of Milepost yesterday at Barnes and Noble.

The MILEPOST: Alaska Travel Guide and Trip Planner
Oh wait, you already have it... Sorry, for me it's just habitual to start typing in as soon as I see the word "drive."
Have a great trip up!

I'll probably give myself about 7 days to move from Wyoming, although I'll probably try to make it in 4-5. I want to have a couple of bad weather days built in just in case. I do have a camera and a laptop, although I probably won't post pictures until I get up to Anchorage and settled in a little bit. Sorry. :P

Right now, for my first trip, I'm planning on taking the shortest route. North to Edmonton, then northwest through Whitehorse, and into Anchorage.

The next 4-6 weeks will be busy. Have to do a few repairs on my house to be able to put it on the market, have to get my car in the shop to make sure that it's worthy for the 3,000 mile drive to Alaska, need to get the dogs to the vet to get shots and medical certificates, and have to hold an "all my crap must go because I'm moving to Alaska" garage sale. Most importantly, I need to get to Cabela's and get me a new 8- or 9-weight fly rod so that I can go fishing when the salmon start running.
