I am planning to move to SE Michigan. My job will be in Detroit and I am looking into areas between Ann Arbor and Detroit. I have read many other posts and it seems like somewhere around Northville or Plymouth is the most recommended areas. However, my wife is an avid runner and I am trying to find out if any of those cities (Or any city between Ann Arbor and Detroit) have dedicated running paths. The area we live in now has a paved multi use trail that runs behind the back of houses. So, I am trying to find something similar - where it is safe, visible, and has easy access from residential houses, and is cleared and used by runners in the winter. Even a short 3-4 mile stretch- that didn't continually cross thru drive ways or alot of roads would be great. Any suggestions from runners/ walkers or bikers would help. Thanks!

There is an 18-mile long bike path alongside Hines Drive in the Middle Rouge Parkway (commonly referred to as Hines Park) which runs from Dearborn to Northville. It's a popular path for bikers and runners and there are relatively few road crossings. Although it's generally pretty safe, I'd still be a little cautious about a female running alone through some areas.
