Maybe all of AA is! I'm attracted to the college town feel, so I don't mind if I'm in an area that happens to be close to campus. But would like a house in an area with other families with kids.

My family lives in Grand Blanc/Flint area, so would I want to live on the Flint side of AA? Or is AA even big enough to make a difference in drive time if I live in an area closer to Flint or not.

I'd love to live in a walkable neighborhood. Close to schools. And not a far drive from shopping/resturaunts. I'm coming for Southern CA, if that helps anyone.

We will find a relator when we get there, but we will be visiting in Sept and would like to drive around some areas, so hoping someone could point me towards some neighborhoods to check out!
Thanks!!

It wouldn't make a difference where you live in AA since US-23, which loops around AA, connects directly to Flint. The only downside is that there's a lot of traffic, both on the freeways and on a lot of the roads within and around AA. Most of them are too narrow to accommodate the population growth of the area. The other downside is that AA is somewhat more expensive than other areas in Michigan, but coming from Socal that's more or less irrelevant.

I would say the Burns Park area, near Arborland Mall, is MOST family friendly, closely followed by the neighborhood between Scio Church Rd, Stadium and N. Maple Rd -- as far as I know it doesn't really have a name.

Or are you looking generally in the AA area? Because I would say Pittsfield Village is also very family-friendly. In general, the closer you get to the main campus area, the more studenty it is, and the more kidless.

I second Burns Park, especially if you like the college-town feel. It's where most of the professors with families live. It's also the only family neighborhood that would be walkable.

Thanks!!! Yes, I am looking generally in the AA area. I will check out the Burns Park area and Pittsfield Village. Thanks!! Do either of those areas have elementary schools? Seems like theres a good amount of elementary schools in AA!

I would also agree with Burn's Park, but never thought of it as near Arborland. Another walkable neighborhood that is under-rated (and my favorite in AA) is the near West-Side, roughly West of Main Street between Stadium and Miller. I really liked the area around Allmendinger park. The neighborhoods around Wurster Park and West Park are nice too (All part of the near West Side). The elementary school in Burns Park is rated a 7 on Great Schools, Bach Elementary which serves the whole near West Side is rated a 10. Either neighborhood your kids could walk to school.
