Crazy Wisdom is closing February 2021

Quote:
“We know that Crazy Wisdom has been a unique destination and special bookstore in our region, and treasured by its friends and customers,” the owners wrote. “We and our longtime managers and staff, past and present, have so much gratitude for having had the privilege over these decades to serve people in our region who are searching in their lives – spiritually, psychologically, holistically, and in terms of sustainable and conscious living.”

The the building itself, which Zirinsky and Schekter own, is not for sale, they said, adding that they are, however, open to selling the bookstore or renting the space.

Not terribly iconic. I cannot find anyone who has ever heard of it and i lived just outside Ann Arbor for 20 years and in Ann Arbor for 3. Even friends who live there now look at me with a blank expression when I asked about it.

Did the West Side Bookstore end up closing?

Bookstores are not going to be around much longer. They are all struggling. Our grandkids will look at use as blankly when we mention bookstores as our kids do when we talk about Blockbuster video.

I had never heard of it either. I had to look up where it was and realized I had walked by it hundreds of times. For a moment I panicked and thought it was that great second hand bookstore on Liberty Street.
