Hey everyone,
Do to privacy reasons, I am not going to elaborate much, however, I need to find a very good counselor for a 9 year old boy that has been repeatedly sexually abused/raped by a teenage FORMER "friend" of the family!

I would prefer to find someone in Northwestern or Northern Arizona, but at this point, any and all recommendations will definitely be considered! NO DRIVE is too far right now, but due to insurance/financial reasons I really have to keep within Arizona. Las Vegas may be a consideration if there is someone top notch that works on sliding fee scale.

Thanks in advance!

Praying you get a quick resolve to this. I hate whoever did this to this innocent child. I'm glad the child has you as an advocate.

I did some Googling around for resources, and found the same link as above. Also try contacting the Victim Services people at the Coconino County Attorney's office... perhaps they can give you some names of people who work in that field that they are familiar with.

The Child Help Foundation located at the airpark in Scottsdale, is a foundation that could help you find the right person and help you with some of the financial cost. You can find them here:Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse | Childhelp

Dr. Tetsloff was highly recommended. I was looking for a psychologist for a child with a similar background and the school counsellor said she wouldn't go anywhere else and that Dr. Tetsloff has a strong background in helping children work through tramatic experiences. Unfortunately, she is in Payson. The child who needed help doesn't have the insurance to pay for the visits, unfortunately, so I do not have any personal recommendation. However, the person who recommended her to me is a close friend and I have total trust in her opinions.

Here is her info off the web:

Christine Tetsloff Phd
(928) 472-8323
814 N Beeline Hwy Ste I, Payson, AZ 85541

Good luck.

I really appreciate everyone's help! I will read up on all the information everyone has given me. I really do appreciate everyone's willingness to provide some helpful information!

I will check on the person in Payson, however, I will have to see if it will be practical or reasonable to travel that far. Of course, it would be worth traveling 1,000 miles if necessary, but we do have to look at the realities of driving 200+ miles away probably once a week or so.

Thank you all again!

Flagstaff has a mental health facility, through Aspen Hill hospital, and also a clinic both of which either might be able to help or know where you could reach someone who could in your specific area. Check with the Coconino County Health department for contact details. It's been too many years and I can't recall the name specifically the clinic operated under. I think it was on N. Beaver, but that was about 25 or so years ago. They did all sorts of mental health issues, and have or did have, both in and out patient services. I don't know anyone specific as an individual, but I believe they can direct you to some. As a survivor of child sexual abuse, I can understand the urgency. And my heart goes out to your little fellow.

Perhaps Dr. Tetsloff may be able to recommend someone who she trusts/thinks highly of, that is closer to you. (Hopefully!)
