Does anyone have any info on castle hot springs resort? I was out 4x4'ing this weekend and saw it off in a distance, another person on the trail said it used to be a big hotel?

The place looks abondanded, and it's fenced off, what are they doing with it?

Can you visit the hot springs?

It's out in the middle of nowhere, between Wickenburg and Lake Pleasant. It's private property and fenced and a caretaker lives there. So no, you can't visit the hot springs or otherwise enter the property without permission. That link gives a good history of the place.

I always thought it would make a great off-road place
with the hot springs it would be fun to jump in and
wash off all of the dust after a long day of riding

The mountain peek to the southwest of the resort there is a flag on top
a buddy told me it was in honor of JFK when he stay at the resort
to recoup from his time in the war. And that the Boy Scouts maintain it.

You can actually 4WD from Constellation Dr in Wickenburg up to Buckhorn, hang a right then have fun all the way across and you can end up at the Springs. I have a friend who stayed there as a child with his family in it's hayday. Very famous and expensive. Public roads go right by it so go take a look. Here's a Google Map I made up last year of the big picture of the area. We went out to the Williams Ranch, which is an adventure in itself. I could give you a ton of info but Google is your friend!

Yep, that whole area north from Lake Pleasant to Wickenburg is a mass of old mines and roads. A lot of them are dead ends but if you can get the old maps like I have you can see how you can get a route all the way across the area. No, I have not done it yet.

If you ever get over to the Wickenburg/Constellation Rd area, go out to the Williams Ranch which is at the very end where it hits the Hassayampa River. This is a long, roller coaster, 4wd trip and you can make a wrong turn since there are no signs. Nicest family you will ever meet and you can spend a vacation with them as working cowboy/girl if you pay them
