Until I saw the beautiful pics posted by KeninAZ, I was going to be a smarta$$ and say, "You ARE looking at Fall Colors in Arizona - and those colors are dust brown and cactus green!"

But since I saw photographic proof that places outside Feenix actually have nice fall colors, I won't say that...

Some people just have nothing constructive to say.
M74 proved that.

Most of the color you'll get in Arizona is yellow, thanks to the many cottonwoods and elms. However, some remote/high-altitude areas have scattered Aspens, which provide the pretty orang'ish-reds you might be talking about. Either way, you'll find very little of naturally deciduous forests in Arizona as the climate here (mostly arid even at high altitudes) is best suited for pine-type forests.

The family and I camp in Oak Creek Canyon and Dogtown Lake a lot, both of which provide a better range of color than many other areas in Arizona due to more deciduous-type trees.

Believe it or not but many East Coasters come to the West Coast (Az, Colorado) to see our fall colors. Since their forests mostly consist of yellow and ours have a much wider color specturm.

Prescott is a good suggestion. Up north near Flag, there's also Lockett Meadow.
You can find occasional aspens in the Sky Islands, particularly on Mount Lemmon. You have to time it just right though. The cottonwoods along the San Pedro River are nice later in the year. My favorite area to access it is at Fairbank, on Highway 82 east of Sonoita.

If you go a little later in the year, Whitewater Canyon in New Mexico is really nice.
