Tucson resident 42, with disabled veteran husband 52 considering moving to Lake Havasu City area.
We have lived in Tucson 9 years, and Picture Rocks the last 4, we loved Picture Rocks, but the last 2 years it has went down hill, very inconsiderate people going out of their way to start trouble, we have had to put up security cameras recently it has gotten so bad.
We are hoping LHC is more laid back, with at least slightly nicer people, where we and our two dogs can enjoy fishing, swimming, and other water sports.
Would love to hear people's advice, comments, whatever! Also, are there other cities next to LHC that keep you close to water, that might be an alternate choice to look into in that area? Or is LHC it if you really want to enjoy the best of all the water activities? I read LHC only has a VA Clinic and you have to go to Prescott to get to the closest VA Hospital?

Bullhead to the north, and Parker to the south.
Since your husband is a veteran, you could contact the VFWs in the area and ask them about access to medical care.
They might even have a realtor member that could help.

Prescott is the assigned VA hospital for LHC and NW AZ. Check the rating of AZ VA Hospitals, and if easy access to VA facilities is important, then decide whether the move is really what you want to do. We all know the record of the Phoenix VA hospital, so giving it a higher score than Tucson is questionable IMO....I am happy with Tucson. The DAV does provide patient transportation from select areas to the VA hospitals for Veterans not able to drive. I am a volunteer Driver in Yuma, we transport Veterans to Tucson for their appointments each weekday....in vans provided by the DAV.

Good Luck

LHC is mostly tract homes. I'd make a trip there in the summer and in the winter before moving. It is HOURS from anywhere. If you need VA, I'd find a better part of Tuscon.
