Hi all,

We are moving to Cochise County in January. My husband got a job in the Forest Service based in Douglas. If he lives within 35 miles, he can drive the gov't vehicle to and from home, which is great because he'll be a K9 officer and will need the truck for the dog.

However, I need to work and probably have a better chance of finding something good in Sierra Vista. Plus, everything I've heard advises against moving to Douglas.

Tombstone looks like a 1/2 way point but I know it's really small. And there's Bisbee. Any one here who actually lives or has lived in either area and can give me an idea how liveable they are? I know a lot of people from other areas don't like them (especially Bisbee) but I'd like to know what the residents think.

Thanks!

Douglas is an hour's drive from Hereford. The road is all Highway (Hwy 92). Hereford is a beautiful place to live. The average home lot is 4 acres. I feel safe out there. If you have dogs, just fence in your property and you will be fine. We have never seen an illegal, but we have found signs that they have been by. The evenings are gorgeous! My husband and I sit out every evening and watch the sun set over the Huachucas. We are surrounded by 4 mountaing ranges. You will love it!

Bisbee is about 30 minutes from Douglas, it's an old town. I have no opinion of what it's like to live there, but I feel it is mostly a tourist town.

Tombstone is a bit farther, maybe about an hour. Also, an old town, lots of tourists, but it is growing.

I hope this was helpful.
