I am planning to relocate to Kingman from Michigan. Anyone who can give me advice about saftey, walking at night, areas to stay away from, areas that are preferred? Question the area around the hospital, community college, is north of the city better?, any help is appreciated. Plan to rent for awhile until I can investigate on my own.

Come to town and rent, then go explore the areas.
Camelback,Butler,Birdland, Lazy y U, Rancho Santa Fe to name a few areas to check out.
They have a great map book out now that lists the sub divison areas and where they are located.
So pop in and check things out.

Kingmans probably great compared to Michigan, I shouldn't sat that, i'm really thinking about Detroit. Hardly any trees here.

What's great about AZ is it is an 'open carry state' which means you can carry a firearm and you have a right to protect yourself, if this is a real concern of yours. Come here and rent it takes awhile to get use to the place and become aware of the different area's. There's no rush to buy like it was. Things have slowed down and prices have dropped; which is good for you.

Have a good trip, Happy Trails

Birdland is an area you definitely do NOT want to live in. Butler is questionable. I would never live in Butler.

Camelback is nice.

LazyYU and Rancho Santa Fe are a little more expensive, but nice as well. I guess expensive is relative to where you originate. If you are from the midwest, they will definitely be expensive for you.

Bird Land is a place where you will be concerned about your belongings being there when you get home. It is trashy and drug infested.

Most of Butler is the same way.

having lived in both michigan (grand rapids) and kingman, they are very, very different from each other. kingman has gotten worse over the years, but still nothing like the big cities. as far as walking alone at night, etc., i'd be more concerned about pit bulls running loose than being mugged or attacked by a person.

Default Relocating to Kingman...

Depends on what you're looking for and your price range. We live in Golden Valley, just outside of Kingman in a stick built lnly area and we're trying to leave. Got our house on the market hoping to sell. My wife's been here 25 years and looking for a change. Moderator cut: advertising

Like most others, Birdland, Butler, old town (across the tracks) are places to stay away from. If you like the country-living, then north of town or Golden Valley would be your best bets. This area has become popular because of the mild seasons (We're cooler and cheaper than PHX, LAS or BHC/Laughlin) and the closeness to Laughlin and Las Vegas. Hope that helps!

I see that several people suggest avoiding Butler and Birdland. Could you please tell me what streets border each of these areas? Thank you.

Rambrush passed away some time ago. You are digging up very old threads. You can most likely pick up a map like that at any local Realtors office.
