Shouldn't be a problem. There probably be some congestion around phoenix and Tucson during rush hour.

Could also check with the Az Department of Transportation for delays and construction issues.

As long as you are on I-40 you won't experience problems with Phoenix or Tucson. I just did a Kingman to Flagstaff run today and everything is in great shape.
On 93 up towards the dam is a security checkpoint. Hopefully you are not drivng a truck that is loaded because they might turn you around.
A car is not bad they just look in the trunk. Traffic can get pretty backed up across the dam just luck of the draw how it moves.

Interstate 40 is mostly rural travel through Arizona, and the towns are all pretty small. The only sizeable town is Flagstaff, and perhaps Kingman. So there is little in the way of traffic problems unless there is an accident. The conditions are pretty good until about November or December... but toward the holidays, the snow chances increase.

I was wondering if ADOT had "detoured" I-40 when I wasn't paying attention! ! ! ! !

This is probably one of the easiest drives in the nation. This time of year the only thing you need to watch for is the wind and other drivers in the wind. I did the trip between Flagstaff over to Kingman Wednesday and saw a boat get flipped off it's trailer around noon! Winds whip extremely fast if there is any weather, and this week it was bad!! A couple spots on this stretch narrows into one lane where they are working on over passes. East of Flagstaff from the New Mexico border is a breeze, too!

Been from LV to Flagstaff and it's a very easy drive. Very high speed limit - which no one obeys. As mentioned, campers etc are searched at the dam.

Bummer & sierra AZ,

I'm the one who wasn't paying attention. Smack me with a orange cone.
