Have as of now never seen a windmill in AZ.
Iowa... relaxed, folks wave at each other on highways, crime is something you read about in the papers, nice quaint towns, tradition, good schools. These are things you won't find in AZ
There is working windmill in my front yard, and it runs almost all the time. It is for my well. Of course, you are probably referring to a wind generator and I agree, I cannot recall ever seeing one in AZ.

You're always welcome in Bullhead City on the Colorado River, but it gets a little warm in the summers, and the schools suck. Might like Tuscon. I'd suggest making a trip around the state before you move - both in the summer, like now - August, though it's starting to cool off to only 108 or so, and again in the winter when half the state is 10 degrees at night.

I have a windmill on one of my wells too. As far as generators are concerned, Southwest Windpower, a large int'l supplier of small scale wind turbine generators originally started in Flagstaff.

Looks like Kingman, near the downtown exit. (Beale street?)

If you're looking for a suburban area that's nice and safe, although many people dislike the west valley, try Surprise and North Peoria/Glendale, cheaper than the east valley and very nice, I live in a more rural suburban area called Laveen that many people think of to somehow be a crime-ridden hellhole, but in reality it is an amazing place to live, the only deterrent for some people is the amount of blacks and Mexicans, as long as you aren't racist I think its an amazing place to live

Jenmom, you might find a decent place up in the Show Low area. The only thing is that they do get some snow in the winter, but there's a decent size hospital and a few places where a forklift driver could be hired as well.

good luck

Let me just warn you that this is a HUGE city. Traffic is horrible and cost of living is going to be way more than Iowa. I would consider smaller towns first. St.George Utah has great weather and is still "small"
