OK, all you Kingman long-time dwellers, here's a question from a newbie resident (since Sept.)....

We got about 5"+ at our house....is this normal for the winters here????

I live down the hill in BHC, but no. Kingman gets an occasional dusting, other than higher elevations. This was an exceptionally low storm. The passes will get some light snow about once a year.

Like jamies said: this was a crazy storm. Kingman DOES get some snow during the winter but, it's about 6 inches total, NOT 5 inches at 1 time. Even here in Bullhead, we picked up I'm guessing 1 inch of snow by Sams Club which is across from Laughlin. Word is snow never happens here, but it did happen at the end of 2014. Yowza!

When we moved here we got rid of our large 4WD SUV and got a more economical car. We figured we didn't need 4WD here....guess the joke's on us..haha.

We also left snow shovels and snow boots in PA and sold our snowblower. My husband said he should have kept the snowblower...he could have made a fortune on our neighborhood alone using it to clean out everyone's driveways

Hopefully, that's it for the winter here I get a kick out of people on the news going to Flagstaff, etc. from Phoenix to play in the snow. We don't care if we EVER see it again!!

You all are correct this snow storm was a rare event, Usually it snows and is gone quickly. But the snow is still hanging around and temps are in the teen's at night keeping things froze.

Default Not so much

Been here 13 years, native New Englander, snow here pales in comparison. We had a couple of 3" snow events in March and December 2008, and February 2009. Other years, ZERO. Snow flurries once in May. Two or three times temp has gone down to 9 degrees in the city proper, and drops to the teens a handful of days every winter. A few times the temp has never risen above freezing, yet 60-70 degree days happen too. We are on the edge of cold country, so it can go either way. I actually enjoy the winter, and ride my bike every morning before work irregardless of the temperature. It still feels warm to me compared to back East. Now summers on the other hand........................too hot, hate it. Humid from mid July to September most years with frequent afternoon Monsoons, some severe. I like to head up to SW Wyoming with their 80 degree days and 50 degree nights in the summer. Ah, paradise!
