My retirement from the public schools from another state will be about $4,800 per month. I am assuming that AZ will tax that income. By looking at a website, it looks like 4.24%. Can anyone confirm this? I may just need to go to an accountant if I decide that AZ is the place.

The maximum rate in AZ, according to this site, is 4.54 percent. So, it could be at that 4 percent-ish rate , could be lower. Taxes by State: Alabama to Iowa

Or you could easily go over to the Arizona Department of Revenue website and review the tax tables.

I think that you are confusing the marginal tax rates with the actual progressive tax rate. The rate on $60k in income is far less than 4.24%.
