I did not know we had so many people from NY. I rarely run into anyone from there, it seems.

I thought they were all from Minnesota. At least in the wintertime.

Quick! Blow the bridges to Commiefornia before any more can get across!

Yep. That seems to be happening in Arizona as well.

I was stationed with the Army at Fort Huachuca, AZ (Sierra Vista) in the 1960s. At that time Phoenix and Tucson were not much. Sierra Vista was a very small town at the time.
I married a girl that was born/raised in the Tombstone area but when I got out of the service after serving overseas in Germany I returned to CA where I was born/raised just north of SF.
Retired and living in the Prescott area now. Taxes and cost of living in CA just not worth it in retirement.
Many CA types in the Prescott area or so it seems.

Vegas attracts more Eastcoasters and Phoenix attracts far fewer NYers as myself. Did not realize we were 3 percent.

Agreed. Phoenix seems to attract more transplants from California and Midwest. In Las Vegas it's definitely a combination of Californians and East Coasters. Vegas definitely feels like much more of an extension of Southern California than Phoenix. Phoenix definitely has a very large Midwestern influence.

Vegas vibe is a combination of LA and NYC . Vegas was built on the mob as many know and NYC and Northern NJ has the same culture so such people of that background feel at home in Vegas. Vegas attracts a lot of Inland Empire types from Riverside and San Berdoo as it is an easy shot up I 15. Whereas our So Cal transplants atleast through my experience is Orange County and San Diego which lean more conservative than LA.

Slow down there partner. I moved here from Kalifornia several years ago. I consider myself a political refugee.

I'm retired and brought my conservative credentials with me. Every former CA that I've met has a conservative view. We know first hand what it is like to live in a socialist state and want no part of it.

Being retired here is a net gain for AZ. We leave our left coast attitudes at the Colorado River. We bring our social security, 401Ks and don't take any jobs away from the locals.

I bought a six shooter within a month of arrival and carried the loaded pistol right out of the store within 30 minutes. Try that in CA!!
My main concern was the New Yawkers. Turns out most of them felt the same way as I did. We are one of the reasons that this state won't turn from purple to blue - at least until we pass on.
Now - I'm not so sure about those folks from Minnesota LOL

BTW - the taxes here aren't much lower than CA. They just collect them differently. I never paid sales tax on basic food stuffs in CA.
