How far away are things like groceries and shopping, say like Target,Kohls etc?
Target and Kohls are about 45 miles away here in Bullhead City.

As Packard Fan said then you have Henderson NV 90 miles North with unlimited choices. or a simple mouse click and have it delivered to your door step.
We have plenty of Grocery Stores, quick food places, Hotel rooms and basic shopping places though.

Kingman seems to be getting more and more stores but; Bullhead's losing stores.

I haven't been on here in quite a while so my 2-cents worth may be moot at this point since your questions have already been answered.

We relocated to Kingman 2 years ago from PA and I had a lot of good info from rambrush and Packard Fan, etc. before we made a trip here to look around. We're retired so we didn't care about jobs or schools. We also didn't care that there weren't many places to shop for clothing. We haven't set foot in a WalMart store for over 3 years so we didn't care about that. We just wanted a nice, quiet place to enjoy our retirement. We go to Bullhead/Laughlin a couple times a year, but we're not really gamblers or river-rats so that didn't factor into our decision.

After 2 years here, we can say we've learned a lot about Kingman that no one told us about. I think the biggest concern we have is the medical (or lack of medical) care here. Our doctors are NOT the greatest and I'm told that the hospital is someplace you don't want to go. We have not experienced that first hand, thank God, but all our retired friends go elsewhere if anything serious is going on. That worries us because we're not getting any younger and the thought of traveling to even Flagstaff for surgery or whatever is not a good thing, especially in the winter.

The same goes for dental care here. I've been to 3 different dentists here and I wouldn't recommend any of them. Our neighbors go to Mexico to get dental done. They say it's cheaper and better work.

Another thing that we don't like is the way people drive here. They drive way too fast (our street is like Indianapolis Speedway!); they like to ride your bumper if you drive the speed limit; and they don't stop for stop signs or use turn signals. When we lived in bigger cities in CA and TX we expected that kind of driving. This is a podunk town but the drivers here are very impatient and inconsiderate.

Then there's the price of groceries. We've lived in a LOT of states and I've been so surprised at how expensive groceries are and the lack of choices.

Kingman's not for every one. Even though the views are gorgeous, I'm not so sure I'd pick Kingman again.

Stockton Hill Rd is scary sometimes tho the idea of putting the Walmart by the 40 "IS" car crashes waiting to happen.

Guess I never really thought Kingman groceries were that much higher than other areas. Biggest issue is the lack of speciality items. Then its a trip to Vegas for the different ingredients required in Asian, Mediterranean, Hispanic cooking to name a few.
As for medical care I sent you a PM
Kingman is continuing to get worse by the day for traffic. Used to be you could use Western but that route has been discovered and its pretty busy plus the city has added multiple stop signs to add to the misery. Bank street is out of the way and not used as much. Castle rock gets you from Northern to Andy Devine then a few others around fairgrounds. but anyway you go its congested.
Stockton Hill speed limit is 35 which in most cities would be 45 I usually travel 40 to go with the flow.

Chiming in a bit late, but....

I'd always heard that KRMC was a great hospital. There are definitely some great docs there, but also some not-so-great. I guess one needs to do their homework as to which doctors you use there.

For a dentist, try these folks. I think you'll be quite pleased. https://www.smilekingman.com/

Is there any areas to avoid living in? I have the opportunity to transfer to Kingman for work. I have lived in Arizona before in the Salome/Brenda area. I thought about staying in an RV park for a while until I found a place to buy or rent. But would like to have a bigger place.
Thanks

Yea, anywhere from the Colorado River to Aspen, CO.

There's another recent thread that discusses the good/bad parts of Kingman. Nicer homes seem to be more toward the east side.
