Should Arizona legalize non-tribal commercialized casinos? We already have a few tribal casinos, one near Sedona, Prescott, Chandler, Flagstaff etc. If you're not for that, how about legalize non-tribal casinos in certain mountain towns like Cottonwood, Camp Verde or Sedona? There are some people who don't have the time to fly or drive out to Vegas for enjoyment of all the benefits and leisure from casinos. Lastly, the state could get extra tax revenue for localities and municipal areas. Thoughts?

Would never happen. They are big business and influence for tribes.

We have a LOT of casinos as is, not just the few you listed including some very Vegas esque ones like Talking Stick and Wild Horse Pass.

Montana legalized non-Indian casinos and it turned all of their small towns into truck stop poker dumps.

In short I see no purpose we have an abundance of good casinos as is, including 6 in the Phoenix area and 4 in the Tucson area.

Here's some info on our Casinos.

While I'm in favor on the whole of legalizing gaming, I think we have a really good Casino setup. I don't mind my money going to tribes, they could use it.

Isn't the flight 45 min from sky harbor to Vegas? Its only a 5hr. drive. There are about 20 or so casinos in the state, how many more do you think we need? The only difference from here and vegas is level2 gaming. We don't have roulette, or craps. "Enjoyment, entertainment, and leisure" from casinos; are you referring to the excessive booze or the gambling? All the rest of the hoopla is to get people a reason to go so they can justify its not just about gambling. The last thing our small mountain towns need is to change the entire environment by adding casinos, (way too many reasons to start listing). Wheres the extra tax revenue going to come from?? People who are going to gamble are already going to the casino. How close do you really want one to you???

Last, this WILL NEVER HAPPEN because of the treaty already established with the tribes.

I'll have to see what that's all about. If it were to ever get legalized, I think roulette and craps should be the main emphasis.

I'd like to see more added to the existing Casinos like sports.

Sports gambling is a whole different compact and one that would have to be fought federally. NJ has been trying to legalize sports wagering for a while now but can't win

Locally, the current gaming compact had a poison pill provision in it, which is one of the smart reasons why fault fantasy sports are not allowed in AZ.

I would be open to non tribal gaming at the expiration of the compact under the right regulations and revenue being returned to the state

Although I like craps and roulette, they aren't as profitable for the floor space utilized as other games, so there emphasis will remain on the various slots

Absolutely not. The current setup benefits tribes with gaming. With the history of tribal relations in Arizona, it is appropriate to allow the tribes an exclusive way to make money. No tribe would likely ever be able to compete with a non tribal casino built by a developer with $$$. Being from NV, the gaming atmosphere gets tiresome quickly. The sounds of slot machines is forever engrained in my mind. There are slot machines in drug stores and grocery stores in Vegas. You don't want that here. You should be able to buy milk in relative peace.

I understand your point of view. Where I live in PV, we have 2 tribal casinos nearby that are less than 30 minutes away. If that's not enough gambling, Vegas is about a 4-5 hour drive from central AZ which won't take long. It's not like Vegas is a 12 hour drive or a few states away.
