This was taken during a 40-minute drive through the mountains of Arizona. On my way to Arizona, it was night and I couldn't see anything on the side of the road. But, on the way back I drove this stretch during the early morning and was able to get a glimpse of cacti that are everywhere alongside this road:

The GTI goes to Arizona.

Here are some other photos.

^^ San Francisco Peaks.

Wow, snow already??
Living in Japan and so far from the wilderness of great Arizona, this makes me very homesick. Thank you for sparking my nostalgia and adding another Az hike to my list for when I move back.

I posted in this thread some time ago, but don't know if I ever contributed. So here's a few from last year's road trip, May 2012. This one is just east of Page:

Here's one of ShowLow lake:

The Mogollon rim from east of Pinetop:

Just north of Big Lake, looking for the old 'grouse camp':

Passing Reservation Lake:

Reservation Lake itself:

It's a real shame that this cabin has fell in on itself, it used to be standing when last I lived in AZ:

Where I enter the Hawley Lake CG:

Hawley Lake:

This is my 'ancestral' camp site. The first time I visited Hawley Lake as a boy in 1971 my dad pulled the trailer in between the trees to the left of the picture below and leveled it on a rock in between them. I have taken pictures of my vehicles parked in this spot ever since and camp there every chance I get. The funny thing is that I always have to drag a table (back) there and/or fix the fire pit. I know the picture doesn't show the things of which I speak, but here it is:

So forgive me for marking that site on this tree way back in 1993-2003, yeah my last name starts with a "C":

I stayed at Hawley Lake for more than a day, and thought I'd close this post with this tree shot:

Hope you enjoyed!
