Wit,

Yes. Letter of service commitment contained in that document. Actually their plan is to have significant water features - including a "water taxiway system" and lakes that will double as reservoir storage.

Default Developer proposes $4B/1,500 acre amusment park near the valley

Dreamport Villages: Developer proposes $4B amusement park over 1,500 acres in Casa Grande - ABC15 Arizona

Given Casa Grande is only 50 minutes from Phoenix, this to me is close enough to the valley to have a big impact on it on several levels if it ever gets built(ie increased airport traffic from sky harbor, etc).

""We believe we are at the same point today in Casa Grande as was Orlando 50 years ago when Walt Disney first envisioned Disney World. The key difference is Orlando was not one hour away from two separate major metro areas along an interstate freeway," the developers wrote in the conclusion of their proposal."

As always time will tell if/when this ever gets off the ground and of course proposals/talk has come up about such things in the past. With this proposal there's some interesting documents with lots of details and pictures on what might be built. One of the pictures shows a huge doomed glass pool/beach/water slide complex which I think would be a pretty cool option here on many levels.

I'm usually critical of these issues, but this has been a passion of mine so any news on this front is good news. I've always felt the Valley is really one amusement park short of having everything any other really large world class metropolitan area has.

And Casa Grande is a much more reasonable option than Eloy. Does anyone remember Decades Theme Park. But a major reason that project and Waveyard fell through was their plans were release right before the crash in 2008. They could never get funding after that.

Casa Grande or anywhere else in the lowlands would be a mistake. No one would go from June thru September. Williams or Camp Verde would work better

There is already a thread about this, and this is in Casa Grande. A little closer to Phoenix, but this is relevant to Tucson also, and not in the Phoenix area.

No way. It would be freezing standing in line and have snow on the ground for half the year. The elevation change and drive from Socal, or Vegas would be such a hassle if you thought you were going to go play for the day. Williams is hours away from Vegas. There is no way it would draw any notable crowd from there. There is no market for it, Its not something most locals could afford to do often. Last, it just doesn't fit.... When I think of heading to Northern Arizona, a theme park is just not the..... theme. When I think of Northern AZ, I think of national forests and nature.

Casa Grande is getting some larger business growth and will become a booming location if this happens. The 10 year construction alone will be a big kickoff to Casa Grande connecting Phoenix to Tucson in a large Metropolis. They are talking an Amtrak station; This would be one of the few places where they would have plenty of room for this country to finally install a high-speed rail system to Socal. If this takes off, buy your retirement investment land in between as soon and as cheap as you can. With investment like this, and Lucid, This city could easily be built up as one of the most advanced cities on the planet in only 2-3 decades. Keep an eye on it, and see if the start of production starts to bring in other large tech.

As for the summer weather, you either design the park with many cooling off points, and shade or do the reasonable thing, and please.. MAKE IT OPEN AT NIGHT.. Summer hours should be around 8pm-10am. This will depend on who and what the focus is. There will be a sports park, and what will probably be the BIGGEST DIFFERENCE, between here and Disney (which I don't know of yet), but Disney does not sell alcohol.

I thought the same thing at first but it does appear a good chunk of this is proposed to be indoors, that would work if they can get funding and the customers to support it. I'm sure the owners see Casa Grande is a perfect middle ground between Tucson and Phoenix.

I've said this numerous times the best place to build an amusement park is metro center. There is already castles and coasters and could be expanded. The light rail stops there and existing infrastructure with restaurants. Plus freeway access.
