Actually, some biologists believe the jaguar used to roam as far north as the Grand Canyon and in 1843 an explorer recorded seeing jaguars near Longs Peak in northern Colorado. I think there have been 3 different ones seen in southern Arizona over the past 10-15 years. They would probably do quite well in Arizona, I can't seen any real predators accept for maybe mountain lions and of course humans.

This is really cool. I grew up in northern Illinois and the decline in fur trapping, depopulating rural areas (more really big farms instead of a house on every 80 acres) and other factors has greatly increased the wildlife that is now seen around there.

My dad told me that in the 1950's it was a "big deal" just to spot deer around there and now there have been wolves, cougars caught in that area....you can see all kinds of additional wildlife like turkey, weasels, fox etc. that were super rare when I was a kid in the 70's-80's.

So I think this is a general trend in the US.
