We are canadians from Montreal and we spend the winter months in Florida- due to health problems (emphyzema & arthrose) we are told the Arizona is DRY - we are french but bilingual - looking for an area of french people (Ieither from France or elsewhere) we would rent and buy later if we like it -so my question which city we should look at and I am a true lover of water (lakes)

You have posted in the wrong place- moderators, please move this to the Arizona forum.

Much of Arizona is desert, especially the southern part. Northern Arizona has mountains and pine forests, and gets snow in the winter. It is a very scenic state, but any lakes will be man-made.

So is Stoneman. But all in all Arizona is not a place you go to if you love lakes. While we have some large ones, they are impoundments and are on public land so that you really can't find much in the way of lakeside living outside of a few artificial ponds in subdivisions.

You could look at Parker or some of the towns along the Colorado...I don't have any idea if there is a French speaking enclave somewhere in the state...I would venture to say "no" but there are plenty of Canadians that snowbird here in the winter.

In AZ we integrate, we don't stick to our own. If you're chasing a good ol' French elitist community, I would recommend Paris.

That's an economic/class thing. That's different. Those with the means move in/out and integrate.

I don't think there is any area of purely French people here. Arizona does not exactly have a French history. English is the main language in Arizona. If you love lakes, a desert is not the place to look. Most of the state is desert. That does mean its very good for arthritis sufferers, but if you are looking for lakes on the scale of Florida or even as many lakes as I know eastern Canada has, this is not it. Some communities have small man made lakes but it doesn't compare.
