Well, that's war.

Unlike today, soldiers back in the day were friendly to one another when there wasn't fighting. They would often meet up and trade goods, share stories, etc. Ive even read of instances where Union soldiers surrendered their boots to Confederate soldiers who were in need. Commanders would meet and smoke cigars, play music, etc.

While not in AZ...I guess we have to figure out what to do with all the Buffalo Soldier monuments then...African American soldiers that fought in the Indian Wars...slaughtered numerous Native Americans...Offensive or protected?

OOO....and the Pyramids in Egypt because...I am sure the descendants of Jewish slaves are offended by them. For that matter we need to tear down any remnants of the Roman Empire because they pretty much enslaved EVERYONE.

Come to think of it there were many illegals who were forced to work for below minimum wage building homes in the 1980's here in the east valley, maybe these homes should be destroyed as a monument to the injustice created by white privilege or better yet have the state take control of these buildings and give them to the illegals or to the Indians who were unjustly deprived of the land the homes sit on.

Hmm...you have a point there...I am sure that the people who were forced to work on the dams along the Salt River and built our Highways during the WPA probably were working for slave wages...should probably tear those up too. And don't forget the Chinese laborers that built the railroads...those have to go.

Red herring. There are no direct shrines to those that employ low wage construction workers. It's an interesting argument at the surface, but once you think, it's completely irrelevant.

Those who erase history are doomed to repeat it.
Those who want to remove and erase this time of our past will only create greater suffering in the future.
We remember the painful things in our past, in order to improve ourselves in the future.

Off topic. No one's suggesting that history should be erased. History books remain and we will continue to discuss this time in our history.

Yes I remember watching the show Kung Fu with david carradine and I was appalled at how the Chinese were brought over as slaves to build the railroads all over the country and in Arizona perhaps the railroad should be should be forced to pay reparations, and the Presdient who allowed this to happen should have all his monuments removed. We also cannot forget about the Japanese imprisoned in Arizona during WW2 who had done nothing wrong, the President that orderd that be done should also have his monuments destroyed.

Might as well tear down Auschwitz-Burkenau while we're at it, too.
