I agree. So many straw men.

Today's New York Times, in an article, even stated that Trump "made a deal" with Democrats on the debt ceiling wondering out loud how a President "on the hard right flank of the Republican Party" could do that. I wonder who in their right minds thinks that Trump is "on the hard right flank of the Republican Party."

reality no longer exists in political discourse, especially when it comes to the medias reporting of events..

it used to be a good thing when a president worked with the opposing party to get something accomplished, and now a days, anything any president does is questioned and suspect

Trump did just that with the Democrats on debt-ceiling increase and extension of spending authority. The GOP people are furious. Frankly the GOP people should be ashamed of themselves for their refusal to cooperate with anyone.

That is an easy one. Trump is a Trojan Horse. He got the far right all riled up and got elected...makes a mess of things his first months in office...and now he will start moving "Left" until his New York roots start showing. The Dems should be happy...they got into the White House after all.

I don't agree. Trump has a responsibility to run the country as a President. If the Republicans won't help since they're angling to replace him or just make him look bad he still has to find willing partners.

Very optimistic approach, JBGUsa . . .

Sadly, we seem to have more "Vote Prostitutes" in Washington than sincere, concerned Politicians.

I did not vote on this. It depends on what the monument is. In the case of Confederates, I am in full favor of removing those Confederate statues. They should have never gone up in the first place. The Confederates were traitors who fought for the Confederate cause. The Confederate cause was about keeping slavery. To honor Confederates is to honor that cause, period. Why else would you commemorate a Confederate other than being in support of the Confederate cause? Better yet, that is actually why they were erected in the first place. The South got their rear end handed to them in the Civil War, and rightfully so. I'm happy they lost. The Confederate generals should have been tried and put to death for treason. You can call me angry all you want. It does not change facts.

Those Confederate monuments were not erected to "teach history". They were erected to honor those who fought for the Confederacy. They were to pay tribute to the Confederate cause. They were erected as an "up yours" to Washington DC, to Blacks, and to anyone who believed in racial equality. This is why government building in some southern cities had Confederate flags flying. The whole "Lost Cause" myth is a lie, and honoring Confederates further perpetuates it.
