Not really. The Bush family, George Romney - Mitt's father, Nixon, the Rockefeller's, Gerald Ford were all examples of establishment, big government Republicans who were opposed by limited government conservatives like Goldwater and Reagan. You should be able to classify where McCain would belong within the two groups.

He divorced a wife that stood by him for years and through his POW status so he could have fun in the senate at the parties.
Not much of a man in my opinion.
He won't resign or give up his seat as he will lose his medical care that he now has as a senator.
I have always considered him to be an idiot and he showed that when the party ran him for president.

I don't like McCain as a Senator and as a husband either, but the bolded is silly. At his age, at a minimum, McCain would have Medicare, and he and his wife have enough money to have any Medicare supplement they want and can afford any treatment they need (McCain's wife inherited a beer distributorship and is worth over 100 million USD). McCain also qualifies for TRICARE for Life based on his military service alone, not his time as a Senator.
