Hey I'm not going to lie; I enjoy listening to Doug Stanhope podcasts and everything he and his cronies do in Bisbee. He and his GF make Bisbee AZ sound so friendly and approachable. Right now I'm looking everywhere for 'snow bird' base camps and was thinking maybe Bisbee would be a good one for the winter. What do you know about Bisbee? Do share because I care!! Thx. PS> Stealth Rabbit if you're out there, this is all your doing. hahaha

It's a quaint little town that takes you back to the 60-70's. Yes very friendly. Here's an interesting and true story about Bisbee and it's history. https://www.vox.com/culture/2018/1/2...-robert-greene

Having lived in Tucson for 7 years, I think Bisbee has that very quirky, cool vibe, but unless you're in the service sector and like low-paying jobs in touristy places, the good jobs are not in Bisbee.

Bisbee is one of those great places to have a "home base" especially in the winter if you are retired or independently wealthy or a starving artist or in entertainment (like Doug) and travel the country for gigs or have passive forms of income and don't need to be in or near a large, major metro area.

Can you live a trailer and be on welfare in Bisbee, sure, but what fun is that, although you might make it onto one of Doug's podcast!

I think Patagonia, or even Nogales, would be a lot more convenient, and a milder Winter.

I love bisbee but it gets quite cold there in the winter. It snowed quite a bit in the last few weeks.

I can think of better places in AZ for a snowbird base camp...I'm not big on Bisbee though.

There is some cheap housing there...looks interesting, but just a bit small...too far from Home Depot, and quality healthcare...a cheap house, not in an HOA, not too cold and not too hot....could be a very good investment. 7 dollar microbrewery beers and 8 dollar an hour, part time jobs, though....would grate on me....property taxes seem high, too.

Is it not true that the AZ minimum wage is now $11 an hour? I would love to visit Bisbee, it seems beautiful in pictures I have seen, and seems to have a vibe that I would be comfortable with. Is the job market in Sierra Vista better?

I've visited Bisbee a couple of times, it's beautiful and quirky. I also did a lot of AZ research on best place to buy (for me) and had to cut Bisbee from the list.

1st- High altitude does make for a cold winter and snow that I do not want.

2nd- To far from a larger airport so necessary travel will be difficult
3rd- Higher cost of living for the amenities not offered.

Ultimately it was Rio Rico that won my favor, but it's a reasonable and scenic drive to Bisbee when I choose to visit.
