I now realize those must have been cicada exit tunnels.
OMG - is that what they are? I have those holes in a few spots in my backyard, underneath my Tipu tree. Every morning I collect about 10-12 cicada "skins" around my patio area. I was wondering where they were coming from. Yuk!!!

dont feel bad...for ages in chicagoland, every 17 years or so, we would get MILLIONS of them EVERYWHERE...so thick I had to use shovels to clean them up...pretty interesting, but if you dont like bugs, it was a real nightmare for a couple of weeks..

I haven't seen any "skins" yet but now I'll be looking for them.

Hoping to use our pool tonight without having to save drowning cicadas. Kinda kills the romance.

Keep your pool light off. Less bugs - and more fun anyway.

Looks like it'll be under 100 for Wed/Thurs!! Hopefully it actually rains and we don't get stuck with the high moisture-no precip all day

Fluffy you had rain, interesting. Radar this AM when I woke up at 0600 was like no reflections in practically the whole state.
You got lucky!
