Yes, only my first summer here, and the monsoon rain was a huge relief. I don't mind the heat, and I know we live in a concretized desert jungle, which exacerbates the heat, but damn, after 20 days of 105 plus heat, enough already! But damn that rain was nice, and so good to experience a temp that didn't start with a tens digit of 8 or higher!!! Yes, I could also use my backyard patio I just got done.

I wonder what that water does... does it feed bugs and encourage more mating?

I know I put alot of poison granules down in my gravel to cut down on scorpion population, and I have been waiting for a good soaking of rain to help spread the poison around. I did find a pretty freshly dead baby scorp in the gravel after the Monday night rain. I almost picked it up thinking it was one of those gravel chunks with fluorescent paint or whatever. It didn't quite move, and then my eyes focused and I saw that tail!

p.s. hard to believe such a little critter that that could only put out so little venom could actually create a problem for a large human!!

an even smaller mosquito or tick could kill you, so the little scorp isnt alone in being harmful to humans

I haven't seen many or real any mosquitoes over here in our part of North Scottsdale, yet.

I do know of a water feature in a yard not far away that is not being operated, and is a big pool of standing water.
So I'm waiting for a breeding event to populate our area.

We found cicadas in our pool and hot tub tonight. Kind of pretty, actually. I'd never seen one before. I still haven't heard one.

^We had some 1 to 2 inch holes open up in the ground a week or so ago, eliciting a "What the heck..." response from me.

I now realize those must have been cicada exit tunnels.
