Not trying to turn this into a political thread, but what if border policies become extremely lax? Would this have a negative effect on Nogales, AZ?

If somebody is looking to retire there, I think that’s an important question to ask.

Use the much lesser known Morley Ave exit to cross, instead of Deconcinni.. It is about 200 yards east.. Across the tracks.. Only open during the day. Otherwise, Saturday and Sunday can be a beast getting back.

Plenty of Mexicans come and go everyday.. They have Laser Visas which allow them only in a 100 miles I recall. But even if they became more lax, there would still be a huge federal presence for customs and agriculture inspections. The terrorist scare/threat is still present. Also, realize the illegal crosses are more of a hurry than anyone to get up north.. And if you are in the hills, you rarely see them, it is quite rugged terrain.

If being on the border scares you you shouldn’t retire on the border.

If I were a developer, with millions to lose, I'd be crazy enough to build a high rise right smack at the Border, in one of those parking lots, on the AZ side.. Who do you think would move in there?

In Tijuana, they have built 4 30-story high rises, on the Mexican side, with a short walk to the Border, part of the New City complex.
