Sounds weird, but okay. Interesting idea. Maybe better than the cheap southeast Asia shrimp?

A Gila Bend Shrimp Farm on the Cutting Edge of Sustainability
“We’ve developed a technology where we can grow shrimp in a container,” says chief financial officer Michael Cunha. “We can control the complete environment, from the water, the PH, the oxygen levels, and we can recirculate that water by taking it out, recleaning it, and bringing it back in.”

I have seen this tried in two difference places in Nevada. The first effort appeared to have a workable plan in a rural part of Clark County, NV. However, they did not get the necessary water required to produce the shrimp.

The second effort was a company called Ganix Bio-Technology and was located in North Las Vegas, NV. They were founded around 2011 and closed sometime around 2016.

I wish them a lot of success.

I think the water issue will determine its future.

I wonder if the shrimp will be cheaper, because they're right here, or more expensive, due to labor costs.

I just learned that America gets by far the bulk of its seafood from foreign countries, so maybe there's a great market for this.

What better place to locate a water-based industry than in a desert?

What could go wrong?

They used to sell 49 cent shrimp cocktails at the High Sierra, Lake Tahoe.. I must have eaten a 100 of them. I was told they were from a farm near Pyramid Lake, NV.. kind of caught me off guard in the early 90s, but they were excellent. Unfortunately, the seafood industry stinks to high heaven on many levels.
