Which of those places have the mildest summers? Texas has no place with mild summers and Western Washington has perfect summers ( 70 degrees or so).

How is SE Arizona? Bisbee brags about its climate.

Is there anywhere in AZ with cool summers?

Any place with higher elevation. I went swamp only for four years, 10 miles from Mexico, at 4300 ft.. Nogales is at 3850 and runs about 15 degrees cooler than Phoenix, so it is just plain hot, but quite a few swamp users there, too, and no heat island effect, just a sewage problem from Mexico.

Bisbee is the coolest and all 3 have a good overall climate. Flagstaff has cool summers as well as other high elevation locations.

Basically all of Eastern Arizona is cooler in summer. So is Northern Arizona along the I-40 corridor except for the extreme western end.

The Southeast corner is probably the most appealing from an affordability standpoint. The areas to the north and east of Phoenix like the White Mountains, Flag and Payson are very desirable, but costly. Areas to the north and slightly west of Phoenix like Prescott or Chino Valley have cooler summers, but they’re typically more affordable.

But there’s no doubt that SE Arizona has the best combination of weather and affordability. Never gets too hot or too cold. Cochise County is full of great towns that people find very appealing.

Would Douglas, Bisbee and Tombstone be enough to see?

What are you looking to see, are you looking for a place to move to? I also would definitely look at Sierra Vista if you are looking in that part of Arizona.

Of the places you mentioned, Bisbee has the mildest summers because of its somewhat higher elevation. They also tend to receive an abundant amount of rainfall during the monsoon (July to mid September) in the form of afternoon thunderstorms, which helps moderate the temps. Bisbee has some snow during the winter, but overall, they have very mild winters compared to the high altitude, forested regions.

Mogollon Rim, eastern White Mountains, and the higher elevation forests of northern AZ ... my favorite places during the summer! Greer is a tiny village at 8,300 feet in elevation which which hardly ever records high temperatures in excess of 85 degrees all summer. They have very cold, snowy winters, however, so I don't recommend it for year round living.

Of those 3, Bisbee is the coolest in summer, Highs in the 80s and Lows in the 50s&60s is average

They’re all interesting towns in their own right. Bisbee is the most interesting of the 3...especially aesthetically. The Tombstone Canyon section of Bisbee is where the out of towners like to flock for its bars, hotels and restaurants. It’s also our county seat, and the old courthouse is one of the town attractions too.

Douglas is an example of an old border town and they have the distinction of still having their old downtown district still intact. Lots of cross border commerce from Aqua Prieta comes over to Douglas daily. Lots of Border Patrol, State Trooper activity (due to there being a large state scalehouse for trucks) and a state prison also keeps things pretty busy down there. I’m a big fan of Douglas.

Tombstone is the least interesting town of those 3. The Main Street which is usually closed to cars during the day is mildly interesting. There’s the Birdcage, the OK Corral and the cemetery all within very close proximity to each other. Within a short walk, you’ll see all of what Tombstone is about. The restaurants are actually pretty good too.

Some will say that Sierra Vista is worth visiting, but outside of visiting the Fort, Sierra Vista isn’t worth bothering with. It’s a thoroughly modern city with nothing that you’ve never seen anywhere else. There’s no downtown, and most of the restaurants are chains. I’d use that time instead to drive up to the Chiricahua National Monument/Park over in the Eastern part of the county.
