I got a ticket in the mail with a picture of someone else driving my van while I was in the hospital. If I send a letter with my license, am I still responsible for the ticket?
The person driving is from out of state.

No offense, but do you really want to risk a large fine or jail time because you followed advice on this board?

Check with your local police department, or a lawyer or whatever.

I wouldn't take the word of people on this board in a legal matter of any kind - no matter how much I may like them.

Just my opinion - but then again I just told you not to trust legal advice given on this board didn't I?

Go figure.

Ken

This happened to me when someone else had my car in DC. Yes, you are responsible because you are the one the car is registered to. If you know who was driving at the time, you can show the ticket to them and request they pay it, but I would definitely pay the ticket myself and get reimbursement from the driver. Because as I said you are responsible. As far as I know, there are no points deducted from your license. But there should be a number on the ticket you can call for mor info.

Did you race your wheelchair past the nurses' station again?

OK, no more kidding. I guess the others here are right, don't rely on lay legal advice. This is too serious a matter. First inquire with the agency that issued the ticket on the procedures. If their info is not satisfying, contact an attorney.
