I would say Arizona on average has more common in with the lonestar state than they do with their neighbor the very far left republic of California.

MOST of AZ probably resembles TX more.
Flagstaff, however, is definitely a CA clone!

The caveat to that is Texas real estate didn't sky rocket like AZ's.

So the question should be is AZ's real estate value depreciating more like that of CA or TX?

Im really not sure, lately there have been a LOT of pretty decent homes out here on the market (in the high desert area) in the range of 100k...give or take a few. Some arent all that old, either, in nice areas, but they are listed as 'bank owned' on the signs. Just yesterday I passed up several stations with gas prices at 2.50-ish. So, for now, its hard to really say.

I always said that Arizona is Texas' younger sister.

On the California side, as you go inland, to Riverside, San Bernardino, and other inland counties, they are more conservative than Los Angeles county, with a few exceptions, generally as you get closer to the coast, you'll be in the far left country.

When it comes to real estate, in California the further you go inland, the less expensive it gets, so California does resemble Arizona in that aspect. I know you'll definitely pay a lot less for a 4-bedroom home in Barstow, CA, than you would in any of the communities in Orange and Los Angeles Counties.

Which part of Texas? The west part of Texas (ie: El Paso) is very different then the rest of Texas, in almost every aspect.

I would think that there are far more CA transplants in AZ than from TX, so that might account for something, but CA is also so vast and different depending on if you are referring to the northern area, southern area, or the Riverside/San Bernardino area.

Granted, my experience is only from Phoenix/Scottsdale, but from what I saw there, I'd say way more like Cali.

You could ask the same quetion about where in Calif, I was going to ask it. That being said, generally I would say most of AZ is closer to Texas.. Yes, there are probably many more transplants from Californis living in AZ than from Texas, but overall, with the exception of a few places like Flagstaff, AZ is conservative as is most of Texas.

Probably a little of both, but Arizona is definitely more comparable to California than Texas. Our climate, culture, cuisine, shopping, and driving habits are similar to the Golden State. Arizona's politics are probably closer to the Lone Star state, but Texas is still more conservative overall. Also, the high quantity of pickup trucks & other large vehicles on the roads would likely be compared more with TX than CA.
