Don't forget the Bunyups. They immigrated from Australia some years ago and now prowl the Arizona outback!

I heard the Graboids have worked their way down from Nevada into the Kingman area.

I'm not fully understanding the sarcasm? It was a legitimate question, or so I thought. Heaven forbid I try and learn about where I might move to. o.O; I guess I'm done asking questions in this friendly forum.

If you have any specific questions Ill be free to help. I keep and study scorpions, including many species in the desert southwest. Im quite familiar with Sonoran Desert wildlife so I feel Im quite qualified to answer any questions you may have.

Oh, and we're planning on moving to Gilbert or the surrounding area.

If you see an animal in Gilbert, please, take a picture!!

Black widows should probably be your only concern, if any.

Scorpions are in this part of the world as well, but i never see them in the places ive lived...but i've known some people who's houses were infested with them....yikes, suckers crawl fast on cement when they are tiny!!

Default Air quality might be the worse offender instead of critters

As far as cat protection - my cats brought in lizards, I watched them in the backyard in the day to avoid coyote adventures, one tiny snake and a baby gila was destroyed. The cats tend to bring in Cicadidae. Infestations of Scorpions are normally only found on the hillside homes. One point to note - two of my three cats developed lung problems out here - one with fluid around her lungs and the other died of lung cancer - they test for Valley Fever here, some older pets might get lung-related problems. If you are in sandy, dusty or open areas - that might be a bigger problem.

We deal with rabid raccoons, tons of squirrels a bunch of different types of bees and spiders....some snakes.....and way too many mosquitoes! Thanks!
I know I'm late to this party - but I was wondering how your experience relocating off grid to Saint Johns has been? I have been eyeing this region for a few years and would enjoy some feedback (either private or public) as to your experience and also wondering if you're still there. Specifically, how has the water situation been, your location, access to your location, ease of building with your selected type of structure(s), access to amenities in either NM or AZ, geography and topology challenges, wild critter challenges, gardening/vegetation growing, farm animal and pet successes/challenges, technology access (if any, considering you were going off grid lol), utility connections etc. Would love to hear from you.

Hard to say, Piglet hasn't posted since 2009.
