Coming to visit would be a very good thing, to get a feel for what AZ is like for yourself.

There's lots of info here already on all your questions. We've got transplants here in AZ from MA and every other state.

I don't know what the job market is in your specific fields right now, but things are generally pretty slow.

Apartments allowing small pets are common, garages less so, but there are some, I'm sure.

Places to live near lakes and rivers? Man-made lakes, only, in the Phoenix area, some in subdivisions, larger ones are created by dams and don't have housing quite as close to them. Dry river beds mostly, in areas where there is housing.

Interrracial marriages are not particularly uncommon here.

Gardening? At an apartment? Most don't have yards. You can plant in pots on patios in that case.

Winters are very mild here...

Yes you can ride dirt bikes in several areas.

I would think the cost of living is higher, at least somewhat, in MA. So income should be OK.

What part of Arizona? Well, the most jobs are in the metro population center areas, Phoenix and Tucson. There are other areas you might like, but you need to come and see things for yourself.
